The Long-Reaching Arms of a Dentist

May 28th, 2010

Dentists have a job that allows them to visit with people from all walks of life. Whether you want Invisalign in Birmingham or you’re looking for a dentist in Palm Beach, it can be difficult to know what’s beneficial about choosing the right dentist. Dentistry is a fickle mistress and most dentists have been in practice for years. It’s better to choose a dentist who is more educated simply because it makes a patient feel more secure. However, dentistry schools are making it harder and harder to become a dentist and requiring more from their potential students and graduates. Choosing the right dentist might mean trying more than one before you settle on the final one. This can be a trial and error process that might be exhausting. Just remember that in the end you will have a dentist that knows everything about you and that’s what matters the most.

Why doesnt Barry Manilow age

May 19th, 2010

Barry Alan Pincus is better known as Barry Manilow. This man has been famous around the world for decades. Although, Barry looks as if he is only forty or forty-five, he is actually almost seventy years old. Why does he look so young? You guessed it! Cosmetic surgery and a lot of it. Barry began having plastic surgery in 1995. At that time, he had a complete facelift. He received great results, too.

Then, in 2003, he ran into a wall that he had somehow overlooked. This sent him to the hospital with a seriously injured nose. Since this accident, Barry has been under the knife almost constantly, it seems. The same year he had another face lift. Like one was not enough. Three years later, in 2006, he had ANOTHER face lift! This left his skin seeming very tight and stretched out.

On top of all of the face lifts, Barry has had chemical peels and laser treatments. His cheeks seem much fuller, also. This could be implants or injections. Either way, it is another cosmetic procedure. Barry has regular Botox treatments after having all of his plastic surgery procedures. This keeps his face looking very smooth and vibrant. It, also, makes him look a little unnatural.

Too much is too much and Barry hit that point several years ago. Using cosmetic surgery to take ten or twenty years off of a person leaves them looking young and full of life. But, in Barry’s case, trying to remove thirty or forty years from yourself just makes you seem like you are made of plastic. It makes you want to look and see if he has “Mattel” stamped somewhere on his body. His has turned back time some on his face, but at least his voice has not changed.

Adjusting to life after a baby

May 15th, 2010

Congratulations on your new little arrival. Now the true fun begins. Your body will be going through a large amount of changes and your hormones will most likely be all over the world map of emotions. There will be days you won’t even understand yourself.

Your major concern, your breast implants, how are they going to affect your capabilities of nursing. Well, in most cases they won’t have any affect. But, there are some women that have had problems. In any situation, there are bound to be problems. This is unavoidable. Just remember it doesn’t mean the problems will happen to you.

One problem that some women experience due to their breast implants is the low production of breast milk. This could be due to the placement of the implant in your breast, or it could be due to some of the nerves being severed and your body has not been able to regenerate those nerves.

Another problem that is experienced is their breasts are over sensitive. This over sensitivity actually causes many women to not want to nurse. They will try, but when the baby starts to suckle, they find it to be quite painful.

Finally, a problem that actually occurs shortly after the baby is born is when a woman hits full engorgement. This is when the breast begin to heavily produce and fill with milk. A woman’s breasts become extremely sore and in some cases the woman will even run a high fever. If this occurs that must seek medical attention immediately. There could be additional problems.
Be sure to address any issues or concerns with your doctor. This should have been done at the beginning of your pregnancy. If your doctor did the proper examination, they may have noticed that you did have implants and just didn’t mention anything to you.

Reports of increases in bullying at work

April 27th, 2010

Increasing reports of bullying at work has been spreading into increased signs of aggression in schools where the children of those bullied adults have to face peers who know that their friends parents are being targetted and bullied. Negative effects of bullying at work leading to violence, aggression, and even increased sexual harrassment in schools and work places has been reported as seriously increasing in the past 21 years of documented studies on reported cases of all kinds of abuse.

Bullying at work encourages fellow workers to ostracise the victim of the bully. The bully has shown his power and they have their jobs and family to consider. The victim of bullying at work has only one place to vent his feelings of horror and that is at home. The passing of the abuse torch to his family is not uncommon and children as young as in the third grade have begun to show signs of helplessness and inability to fight back when being threatened, even physically.

Even though some people who try to fight back especially in colleges get fired for reporting the abuse, the bullying doesn’t stop there. The bully continues his attacks following his weak brother and by extension his family until his target is utterly destroyed thus gaining new prestige for the workplace bully as the winner in a contest where the bullied stood no chance of fighting fair or even of fighting back.

Cosmetic Training Courses

April 24th, 2010

If you were wondering in whose interest is it that you take Botox training courses? Your answer might be that Dermatologists and surgeons do. Why? Well it’s no surprise that Botox is becoming so popular. Actually it already is extremely popular. All over there are clinics starting to provide these services to their customer base and acquiring even more customers for the simple fact that they have this procedure available. In the minds of these professionals, the more people who have finished dermal filler training courses, the better. The popularity of Botox is incredible. We hear about it on Television, read about it in the newspaper.

Celebrities and normal people outside your usual suspects (movie stars) are going in for Botox treatment. The demand for this procedure is only going to increase over time. I suspect, even that the people who will be getting Botox soon will include people who are 30 something, as well. After all we live in a society that really values image and that’s not going to change any time soon. It is because of the emphasis we put on appearance that Botox training courses have become a feasible and not to mention lucrative way to start a career. See, the fad that was Botox nearly a decade ago is no longer just a fad.

We’re seeing Botox as practically a cosmetic necessity. In some women’s interest magazines for instance, it is a staple of articles, endless interviews and reviews include the top names of clinics in specific areas, etc. Part of the reason why that is has to do with the fact that Botox is so low-risk in comparison to, what’s that expression, “going under the knife”? I have goose bumps. Consequentially it is much more affordable than that and the recovery time is much, much less.

Is hair transplant surgery something I should do?

April 22nd, 2010

Hair transplant surgery costs are dependent upon exactly what type of work a person needs to have done. It is based on the amount of hair that has to be transplant and how much work the Dr. has to do. Generally insurance is not cover this procedure is not considered a medical necessity. Hair transplantation surgery does have some arrests considering it is surgery, however the rest are very rarely life-threatening. They usually include infection with the risk of bleeding. Scarring or hair growth that doesn’t look natural can also be something that happens at times.

Some people get inflammation or infection on their scalp, this is called folliculitis and it occasionally happens with some people. Antibiotics are usually an effective cure for this. Sometimes the transplanted hair can suddenly fallout, the term for this is called shock loss. The good thing is, if this does happen to the rare person is usually not permanent.

It is up to each person individually so as to whether the risks are worth the results. For many people the ability to have their hair back and increase self-esteem is priceless and well worth the risks.

Dental Technology and how it has come along

April 16th, 2010

It may have come to your attention that dentists are advertising that there have been some recent developments in dental technology thus affecting dental jobs and that they can now offer new cosmetic services or complete other treatments faster than they could previously. These new advancements are not an excuse for you to stop buying your toothbrushes and toothpaste but are helping the dental industry deal with treatments more quickly and accurately. Some of the new technology developments are Cerec 3d dental technology, The Eccovision Acoustic Diagnostic, new dental laser technology, The Surgical Operating Microscopic, Digital dental X-ray systems, The Zoom! In-Office Whitening System, THE WAND which is anaesthetic delivery tool, The T-scan II® computerized occlusal analysis system.

These new technologies  cover many areas of dentistry from delivering anaesthetic which is the first major advancement since syringes, to using digital x-ray to discover what types of treatment should be used and where. To making up some of the dental aids such as crowns and fillings using the cerec 3d system. The dentists can now even monitor and asses the airways of a patient using the Eccovision acoustic diagnostic. With all these new pieces of equipments dental procedures such as tooth extraction, inserting of braces and crowning teeth are becoming much more comfortable for the dental patient and less time consuming for the dentist. Dental clinics across the country will vary in what equipment they have, however they are certainly not restricted to dentists in Essex and the British dental industry is certainly gradually becoming technologically advanced.

Toothaches during nights

April 12th, 2010

Toothaches are very painful and terribly excruciating but there are lots of people who claim that this pain becomes even more painful during night times or when you are sleeping irrespective of whether it is due to the wisdom tooth or because of the gum disease. Let us look at some of the facts relating to toothaches and its severity during nights.

1. If we ask some of the doctors, then they accept to the fact that toothaches are more serious during nights and one of the major reasons for that is the carbon dioxide that is released during the night. It is not that we do not release carbon dioxide during days but the fact of the matter is that the brain reacts very actively with the carbon dioxide during nights and that in turn makes the vessels to increase in its diameter and as there is an increase in the diameter of the vessels, there is lot of pressure exerted on the nerves which are directly connected to the tooth ache. This direct connection makes the tooth ache even more severe.

2. The kind of pain that is generated because of the nerves is actually a bit puzzling and confusing for the doctors and they find it difficult to solve such problems.

3. The pain originating from the nerve is not basically because of any problem but it is actually natural and sometime is a response to the other treatments the patient might be going through.

4. This kind of pain can be cured by the doctor only if there is lot of interaction with the patient.

Smile makeovers; what makes a great makeover

April 1st, 2010

Tooth whitening is what most smile makeovers focus on, we all want a Hollywood movie star smile, and why shouldn`t we have one? Mostly because of the cost, it has been beyond many of us for far too long. A revolution in recent years has led to new technology and that has brought more alternatives into the market place, and this has helped a lot. Dentists are now no longer the only way to a great smile and white teeth. Salons on the High Street and home visits from technicians are all the latest rage. The format that’s used is a bright intense light source; first the technician will place a soft comfortable rubber gum shield in your mouthy. This is a twofold safe guard, first it exposes the teeth fully to the light and second it will protect the gums, lips and tongue from the light. A gel is coated onto the teeth and the light then reacts with it to make your teeth whiter. It takes around an hour and is done in 3 x 15 minute sessions to give your teeth time to take it all in. Your teeth will feel a little sensitive for a few days, but that’s all it entails initially. It should last around a year or two depending on how well you perform the after care. A diet sheet will help you to understand what makes teeth discolour in the first place, and using it will keep your new pearly whites as clean looking as day one. If that’s not permanent enough then you might like to try a veneer, traditional veneers have been improved and today we can have the new Lumineer veneer. It is a new formula of ceramic that is more hard wearing than a traditional one, it allows the orthodontist to make an ultra thin version that doesn`t require any shaving of the tooth enamel. Traditional veneers require their thickness shaved off the tooth, which is only replaceable with the veneer, with the Lumineer being so tough it can be glued straight onto the tooth without preparation by cosmetic dentists. The glue is cure dried using an intense light source. Traditional veneers have a life span of anywhere between 3-15 years, the Lumineer is expected to last 20 years as tests have shown. They are all replaceable of course as they too will discolour in time, but the Lumineer can be removed and left alone, whereas the traditional veneer needs to have a new one fitted.

When Can Men Get Breast Reduction Surgery?

March 23rd, 2010

There are many reasons why men develop gynecomastia which literally means, from the Greek, women’s breasts. Due to breakthroughs in male breast reduction surgery, the problem can be treated by cosmetic surgery. The psychological pain of living with gynocomastia as a boy and then as a man is immeasureable. No one really knows what causes the disorder in the male although some have postulated heridity as a contributing cause. The condition can be treated as early as pre adulthood in the male. A visit to a plastic surgeon will begin the process as the boy or man is evaluated for the cause of their gynecomastia. Some of the causes of gynecomastia that are said to be non heridity in cause are: puberty, Gilbert’s Syndrome, obesity, Klinefelter Syndrome, problems with testicular hormone production, anabolic steroids, medications containing estrogen, herbal testosterone additives , impaired liver function and other probable causes that require a doctor’s diagnosis.
There may be other options available besides surgery, but the most common treatment is male breast reduction surgery. Not all male candidates for breast reduction surgery can get the cosmetic surgery. If, a male patient is found to be qualified for male breast reduction, the surgeon will decide on how much fat, glandular matter and excess skin will have to be removed. A deciding factor on whether a male qualifies for breast reduction surgery is obesity. If the excess breast volumne can be brought down by dieting, that is the treatment preferred to breast reduction surgery. If, however, the cause of gynecomastia is not caused by obesity, excess breast tissue can be surgically removed and the excess skin, tightened. Liposuction is also use to reshape the male breast area.
