Adjusting to life after a baby

Saturday, May 15th, 2010

Congratulations on your new little arrival. Now the true fun begins. Your body will be going through a large amount of changes and your hormones will most likely be all over the world map of emotions. There will be days you won’t even understand yourself.

Your major concern, your breast implants, how are they going to affect your capabilities of nursing. Well, in most cases they won’t have any affect. But, there are some women that have had problems. In any situation, there are bound to be problems. This is unavoidable. Just remember it doesn’t mean the problems will happen to you.

One problem that some women experience due to their breast implants is the low production of breast milk. This could be due to the placement of the implant in your breast, or it could be due to some of the nerves being severed and your body has not been able to regenerate those nerves.

Another problem that is experienced is their breasts are over sensitive. This over sensitivity actually causes many women to not want to nurse. They will try, but when the baby starts to suckle, they find it to be quite painful.

Finally, a problem that actually occurs shortly after the baby is born is when a woman hits full engorgement. This is when the breast begin to heavily produce and fill with milk. A woman’s breasts become extremely sore and in some cases the woman will even run a high fever. If this occurs that must seek medical attention immediately. There could be additional problems.
Be sure to address any issues or concerns with your doctor. This should have been done at the beginning of your pregnancy. If your doctor did the proper examination, they may have noticed that you did have implants and just didn’t mention anything to you.
